Rain, more rain, and still more rain.
I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m checking around to see if there’s an ark taking animals aboard. There was a bit of a break around noon today, with the sun trying to peek out, but that’s long gone. And it’s been pretty much the same since we got back from Florida on Sunday.
Average rainfall for June is 5.03 inches and as of last night we’ve had 10.8. Record for June is 14.18 and there’s a good chance we’ll exceed that.
Right now – temperature is 77°, humidity 89% with dew point of 73°. Somewhere I read that if the sum of the temperature and humidity exceeds 150°, it’s uncomfortable. I’m staying inside with the air conditioning.
Pity the poor tourists.
On the plus side --- everything is very green, and all the water tanks are overflowing.
So, cheers.

Wedding Weekend
Kim and Michael Anne and I spent the weekend in Florida at the wedding celebration of Kim’s sister, Amy, to Scottt Bruce. It was a very enjoyable event, made more so because it was also a Buetttell family reunion. It’s been a few years since we’ve all been together, and about two since Kim and I have seen Jon and Nancy.
The wedding was held at a bed and breakfast in central Florida – about an hour northeast of Orlando. We (the family) pretty much took over the place from Thursday to Sunday. If you’re interested you can check out the pictures that I took at http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/kimandneil/Amy%20and%20Scott%20Wedding/. Nothing sorted or edited. I just uploaded the bunch so that anyone can take what he or she wants. Fortunately there’ll be other, more “official” pictures.
Amy and Scott are now away on their honeymoon cruise and will eventually settle in Portland, Oregon which will now place the Buettell family in Portland, Chicago, Bermuda, and Florida. Pretty spread out, but more places to visit.
Welcome to the family, Scott.

Tall Ships
Check out http://www.tallshipsbermuda.com/.
They were here last week and the island was hopping with tourists and sailors, and visitors. Lots of celebrations.

Kim and I had a some great times. Highlights were a reception hosted by Bacardi aboard the Bounty. Guests included the Governor, the Premier, and of course Kim and me. But the boat was the star – imagine walking in the footsteps of Brando, Trevor Howard, and Richard Harris.

Then there was the Queen’s Birthday Parade (without the queen, of course). A lot of pomp and ceremony and fun to watch.

But the best part of the weekend was following the tall ships from a charter boat as they left the harbor for the next leg of the race. Great day, great photo ops.

These are just a few of the dozens of photos I've taken.
Cheers.

Another Airport
Here I am again in an airport. O'Hare, this time. I see that the last time I wrote, I was also in transit. There’s just been an announcement that the flight will be delayed because of lightning storms in the area. They’re not able to load baggage. I have a two-hour window in Atlanta to catch my flight to Bermuda.
Chicago was good in spite of the rather unseasonably cold weather. We continue to “finish” the condo. Additional furniture arrived and another wall storage unit was installed. Rugs are finally on order. All in all we’re very pleased with the way it’s turning out. It seems as much home as our place in Bermuda.
I must say that I am looking forward to warmer weather, although I suspect Bermuda will be warm AND muggy. I’ll tire of that pretty quickly.
I had a fun birthday celebration on Saturday. It was a quiet evening at home with the Kim and Michael Anne preparing a menu selected by me. I opted to stay home because Kim and I were out the previous evening with some friends at one of Chicago's top restaurants, and it's a bit much to do places like that two nights in a row. Not only that, we've been eating out quite a bit anyway, so home cooking (especially by someone else) was good.
Well, they’re starting to board. We just may take off on time. I’ll try to get this posted before I log off.
Cheers.
